March 18: Sihanouk is overthrown by Defense Minister Lon Nol, Sirik Matak and Cheng Heng. March 23: Sihanouk announces the unitary national front of Kampuchea (F.U.N.K), which includes the Khmer Rouge.

Sihanouk - in exile in China - forms a guerrilla movement. Over next few years the Cambodian army loses territory against the North Vietnamese and communist Khmer Rouge guerrillas

January 27: signing the majority of the fighting in Cambodia while the Communists Vietnamese are replicated in the frontier zones. The United States is re-bombing Cambodia again. The Khmer Rouge ordered the creation of cooperatives in all their zones . The American congress imposes the cessation of the bombardments on 15th of August.
